Who we are

SBAANZ was created after the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) in the United States discontinued the international credential for behaviour analysts. We are a registered charity aiming to promote ethical practices in behaviour analysis in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Statement of Purpose: Promoting the professional practice of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in New Zealand by systematically establishing, promoting, and disseminating professional standards of practice within the cultural context of Aotearoa to benefit all its people.

We are affiliated with the BACB, which provides guidance on our development and ethical practices but does not control any aspects of our operations.

SBAANZ promotes the effective and ethical application of ABA in two ways. First, by providing its members with access to resources and professional development opportunities. Second by providing the public with trustworthy information about ABA, including a searchable register of appropriately qualified practitioners

Our leadership team and members are spread throughout Aotearoa, all interested in providing high-quality services that benefit those involved.
